Maintenance Guide For Neutral Blocks: Preventing Malfunctions
Neutral blocks are the core components of circuit connections, and their stability directly affects the safety of equipment operation. If not maintained properly, it can easily cause malfunctions such as poor contact, heating, and even fire. Mastering the following maintenance points can effectively prevent problems from occurring.
1、 Regular cleaning to eliminate potential pollution hazards
Dust, oil stains, or metal debris accumulation can reduce conductivity and even cause short circuits. It is recommended to blow the inside of the terminal box with dry compressed air every quarter, with a focus on cleaning the Neutral Block block, screws, and metal contact surfaces; If the pollution is severe, a cotton cloth soaked in anhydrous ethanol can be used to gently wipe, and the use of corrosive cleaning agents is prohibited. For example, a certain factory failed to clean the oil stains on the terminals of the distribution cabinet in a timely manner, resulting in an increase in contact resistance and ultimately causing local overheating and equipment burnout.
2、 Tighten the screws to prevent loose contact
Vibration or temperature changes may cause screws to loosen, resulting in increased contact resistance and intensified heating. It is necessary to check the tightness of the terminals every six months and use a suitable torque wrench (such as M4 screws with a torque of 0.8-1.2N · m) to tighten them diagonally one by one to avoid deformation of the contact surface caused by unilateral force. Due to irregular tightening of terminal screws in a certain wind farm, the contact surface oxidized after long-term operation, ultimately causing a fire in the circuit.
3、 Check for aging and replace components in a timely manner
Aging of insulation materials (such as becoming brittle or cracking) can reduce their voltage resistance and increase the risk of electric shock. If the outer shell of the neutral block changes color, deforms, or the insulation layer falls off, it is necessary to immediately replace it with a product of the same specification and model; At the same time, check whether the metal parts are corroded. If there is red rust or black spots, they need to be sanded to a bright finish and coated with conductive paste before installation.
4、 Standardize operations to avoid human damage
When wiring, it is necessary to ensure that the stripping length of the wire is appropriate (generally 2-3mm deeper than the terminal hole), and avoid exposing bare wires; Multiple strands of wire need to be crimped at the cold pressed end before inserting into the terminal to prevent loose strands from causing poor contact. In addition, it is prohibited to plug or unplug terminals while they are live to avoid electric arc burns to equipment or personnel.
Maintenance mnemonic:
Cleaning and anti fouling are the foundation, and fastening and anti loosening are the key;
Aging inspection is essential, standardized operation ensures safety. ”
By regular maintenance and standardized use, the lifespan of Neutral Blocks can be significantly extended, the failure rate of circuits can be reduced, and reliable guarantees can be provided for the stable operation of equipment.
