Terminal Blocks For Waterproof Connection Schemes In Outdoor Lighting Engineering
In outdoor lighting engineering, terminal blocks are a crucial component in ensuring the safety and durability of electrical connections. Choosing a suitable waterproof connection scheme is crucial for harsh environments such as humidity and rain.
The current mainstream solutions are mainly divided into two categories. One type is pre insulated waterproof terminal blocks, which are pre filled with insulating silicone grease and connected and sealed by mechanical tightening. This silicone grease can effectively isolate moisture, prevent copper core oxidation and corrosion, and is easy and fast to install without the need for special tools. It is very suitable for wire docking inside lighting fixtures or junction boxes. Another type is industrial grade waterproof connectors, also known as waterproof aviation plugs. It adopts screw or crimping terminals, combined with precision rubber sealing rings and locking structures, to achieve ultra-high protection levels of IP68 or even IP69K (anti high pressure water flow). This type of connector usually has 2 to 5 cores to choose from, can carry up to 450V voltage and 24A current, has strong weather resistance, supports repeated plugging and unplugging, and is easy to maintain and repair in the later stage.
In practical engineering, if long-term stability and convenient maintenance are pursued, circular waterproof connectors with locking buckles are the preferred choice; In situations where space is limited or fixed circuits are used, high sealing twisted terminals have more advantages. When selecting, it is necessary to comprehensively consider current, voltage, wire diameter, and installation environment to ensure the long-term operation of the lighting system.
